Ministers to publish Apprenticeship Bill
- 16 July 2008
- The draft Apprenticeship Bill to be published on Wednesday is expected to give school-leavers the right to an apprenticeship place from 2013.
Ministers are set to say that this will mean that one in five young people will start an apprenticeship within the next 10 years.
The bill is thought to include a matching service to help potential apprentices meet suitable employers.
It is also understood that it will improve the quality of the training to make apprenticeships a mainstream learning option.
There will be places available at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, including in the private offices of skills secretary John Denham and permanent secretary Ian Watmore.
